Advisory Committees and Boards


In addition to citizen input, the Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization for the Gainesville Urbanized Area also receives comments and recommendations from three standing committees - Technical Advisory Committee, Citizens Advisory Committee and Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Board.

Technical Advisory Committee

The members of the Technical Advisory Committee consist of local, regional and state agency representatives.  The Committee reviews transportation plans and programs from a technical perspective and makes recommendations to the Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization for the Gainesville Urbanized Area.

The Committee usually meets on a Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.  Meetings are usually held in the Gainesville Regional Utilities Conference Room, 301 SE 4th Avenue, Gainesville, FL.  The public is invited, and encouraged, to attend meetings of the Committee.

Citizens Advisory Committee

The Citizens Advisory Committee consists of citizen volunteers, who reside within Alachua County, representing the Gainesville Metropolitan Area.  The Committee reviews transportation plans and programs from a citizen perspective and makes recommendations to the Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization for the Gainesville Urbanized Area.  In addition, the Committee also serves as an advisory body to the Gainesville City Commission and the Alachua County Commission.   If you are interested in serving on the Committee, please contact staff at 352.955.2200 or email Michael Escalante at escalante@ncfrpc.org.  An application for appointment to the Committee will need to be completed and sent to the North Central Florida Regional Planning Council.

Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Board

The Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Board consists of citizen volunteers representing the Gainesville Metropolitan Area who have a special interest and expertise in bicycle and pedestrian issues.  The Board reviews transportation plans and programs and makes recommendations to the Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization for the Gainesville Urbanized Area.  If you are interested in serving on the Board, please contact the City of Gainesville Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator at 352.393.8493.  An application for appointment to the Board will need to be completed and sent to the North Central Florida Regional Planning Council.
